NAIT Ooks shutout the Vikings

Camrose, AB - The weather held up as the Augustana Vikings Women's Soccer team took on the visiting NAIT Ooks. The NAIT Ooks played a strong game throughout the whole ninety minutes, leading 4-0 at the half, and carrying the momentum forward into the second half for a final score of 7-0.

The NAIT Ooks scored their first goal three minutes into the game by Kennedy Henning. Not long after Kaily Mohn added a second, putting the team up by two. The NAIT Ooks finished the first half strong scoring two more from Yuri Akatsu and Ryleigh Bridges respectively. Yumi Ishimura, who received the Player of the Game Award, scored the first two goals of the second half putting the Nait Ooks ahead by a total of 6. The last goal of the game was scored by Mia Giles giving her a team the final score of 7 total points against the Augustana Vikings.

Although Augustana was unable to get on the scoreboard, the women battled on to the end in frigid wind conditions. The Augustana Vikings goalkeeper, Cassidy Newcombe, played the entirety of the game and braved a total of 19 shots on net. Kara Strange, who is a new comer to the team as a first year Physical Education student, took home the Player of the Game Award.
