Lions win big against visiting Broncos

After holding on to a win last night in Red Deer, the Lions looked to make it two in a row as they challenged the Olds Broncos at home.

Tonight's game was not close as the Lions jumped out to an early 24-4 lead, holding the Broncos to a single field goal in the first quarter.  In the second quarter, Ambrose continued to add to their lead by playing extremely tight defense along with shooting a combined 44% from the field leading to 31 points.

Although Olds played a strong 3rd quarter, scoring more points in the quarter than they did in the first half (32), but it ultimately was too little too late for the Broncos.

Ben Nelson led was awarded the Broncos Player of the game award for his steady play throughout the night, while for the Lions, Isaac Gray won the award thanks to his 18 points and 4 rebounds.

After the game, head coach Neil Nystrom spoke about how he felt Gray led his team tonight. "Isaac is very consistent on both ends of the court, which I really appreciate.  He is a good communicator, tonight he usually guarded Olds best player, and did a really good job on that end.  It was a better shooting day today for him, he got his 3 pointer going today which was really good to see."
