GPRC Host Double Header Against Augustana Vikings
The Wolves welcomed the Augustana Vikings to their gym for a pair of weekend games. The Vikings won the Friday night game 3:2, Wolves are looking for a weekend split.
First on the board are the Vikings. Wolves battle and find themselves up 7 after Sidney Schellenberg serves for 3 points. Vikings dig deep and don't let the set slip away, they score 5 straight and force the Wolves into a time out. The Vikings serve falls short out of the time out, another point Wolves. The battle continues at the net and they extend their lead 17:13. Vikings can't recover off a kill from Tristan Moon and the Wolves go up 18-14. Vikings find another gear and tie the game up at 18. A battle at the net, points are exchanged on both sides. Vikings take the set 25:21.
2nd set was all Vikings. They take the 2nd set 25:10.
Wolves go up early in the 3rd, 7:3 which resulted in a Viking time out. The Wolves hold on to the lead with some blocks and kills by #17 Chad Morrison. Lead remains 15:9. Some great rallies results in more points for the Wolves. The offense was relentless and #9 Tom Wheeler finishes the set 25:14. Vikings lead 2:1.
Close start to the 4th set. Wolves and Vikings exchanging points through to 10. Vikings take control and score 4 straight to go up 13:9. Sam Tu'ivai calls a timeout to try to get something going. Vikings keep the pressure on and take a 5 point lead, 18:13. The 4th set ends 25:20 and the Vikings win 3:1.
