Cuyler Desormeau, Red Deer Queens, Curling

ATHLETE OF THE WEEK

Cuyler Desormeau was a key contributor to the Red Deer Polytechnic Queens Curling team earning silver at the Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA)/Curling Canada College Championships in Lethbridge.

During round robin play, Desmormeau, a Bachelor of Science in Nursing student, and the Queens finished first in their division with a 7-0 record. 

In the women’s semi-finals, the RDP Queens defeated the SAIT Trojans 9-4. Then PACWEST picked up a close 6-4 decision over the Queens in the CCAA Women’s Curling National Championship game. 

Red Deer County’s Desormeau (Queens’ third) played exceptionally well throughout nationals, executing a number of challenging shots. Desormeau, a third-year student-athlete, was named a CCAA Women’s Curling Second Team All-Star.
